Emma Degerstedt's Bio


Emma Kristina Degerstedt was born in Long Beach, California: but soon moved to Sweden with her Swedish mother, Carina; her Swedish-American father, Mark; and her brother, Mats. While she lived in Sweden, she learned downhill skiing and loved to play in the snow.

When she was 6 years old, her family moved back to Southern California. Emma was always singing and dancing around her home, and quickly joined a youth theatre. Soon she was acting and singing in one musical after another. She also started taking dance lessons- jazz, lyrical jazz., ballet and tap. After that came voice lessons and piano lessons.

Emma has performed in over 20 musicals at Community Theatres and Civic Light Operas and her last show was at The Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. As an 11 year old, Emma auditioned and was cast as a series regular in a Nickelodeon television show - “Unfabulous”. She worked on that show for three seasons. Emma also did an episode for the television series - “Monk” titled “Mr. Monk & Little Monk”.

In Emma’s free time she likes to be with her friends, taking pictures, dancing and enjoying the beach. Starting in October, 2006; Emma began working on a world premiere of a musical called “13”. Her lead role was “Kendra” in the production at the Mark Taper Forum. The music was written by Tony-award winning Jason Robert Brown.

For the future, Emma continues to audition in Hollywood and her college aspirations are either NYU or USC.
